Campaign Story

In 1990 the founder of Presbyterian Church Rande Bush together with other churches in Chinhoyi saw the need for HIV orphans to have a place to stay. In 1994 they got a place as a donation from the city council of Chinhoyi. During that time Mr Khosa was a town clerk of Chinhoyi city council and he was the one who made the donation. The home was built in stages as the donations were coming in. Firstly, the durawall was built and the girls’ dormitory was also built in 1995. The girls’ dorm is called Samaria. Boys were also accommodated at the girls’ dormitory by that time. Years later the boys’ dormitory was also constructed. In total Good shepherd centre has the capacity to accommodate 49 children both boys and girls. Currently the leadership is constructing their first housing unit to accommodate about 8 children as the institution wants to move away from dormitory style, as was recommended by the national residential childcare standards.
